VIVO Faculty and Lead, Miriam Smith, a native of Richmond, graduated from Randolph-Macon College with a degree in Music Industry. She went on to earn a Graduate Certificate in Music Therapy from Shenandoah University. She is currently working at the Department of Correctional Education as the academic program specialist practicing music therapy at the special education school.

She is incredibly passionate about music and works with several groups in the community to encourage the use of music to enhance everyday life.
